We have a huge, imaginative and natural outdoor area that is level and provides for all areas of development. We think we are unique in the type of garden we have.
There are musical tunnels to crawl through, willow tunnels to peep out of and run through, domes and bridges, platforms and building materials, an orchard and insect habitats, a deep digging sand pit, a soil digging area as well as vegetable growing and wavy walk ways which blow in the wind.
To ensure all children can access the outdoor space in all weathers we provide suitable clothing and if it gets too cold we come inside for a warm up and continue indoors until later in the day when the children are ready to go outside again.
Research is increasingly showing that children need regular and prolonged access to the outdoors where they learn from natural activities and resources, supported by sensitive and knowledgeable adults and this is something you will find at Manor Farm.
Our children enjoy interacting with the built elements outside and they have helped with the process of designing parts of the garden: slopes to roll down, a tunnel that makes a noise, stones and rocky places, a bridge, a place to see the wind, a place to jump off and a speedway for bikes....... The garden will always be evolving as we include their ideas.
